PERMANET participated in the Public Conference “Fostering the European Mining Regions Innovation Ecosystem”, held on 11 March 2026 in Seville (Spain) at the premises of the Junta de Andalucía. The event was organised within the framework of the EMRIE – Interregional Exchange of Experiences of Mining Regions initiative and brought together representatives from European institutions, research organisations, regional authorities and EU-funded projects working in the field of mineral raw materials.
The conference focused on strengthening collaboration between European mining regions, fostering innovation ecosystems and supporting the implementation of the EU Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA) and related initiatives such as RESourceEU. Keynote speeches addressed topics including the role of mining regions in the green transition, policy developments related to critical raw materials, and opportunities for international cooperation in the mining sector.
PERMANET contributed to the programme through the participation of Laura Quijano (Iberian Sustainable Mining Cluster – ISMC), who acted as moderator of the panel discussion “CRMA in Action: Connecting S3P Mining from Exploration to Circular Value Chains.” The session brought together experts from several EU-funded projects, including DEXPLORE, UNDERCOVER, OPTIMINER and NEO-CYCLE, to discuss how regional ecosystems and collaborative research initiatives can support the development of resilient and circular raw materials value chains in Europe.
Through this participation, PERMANET helped highlight the importance of cross-project collaboration and regional innovation ecosystems in strengthening Europe’s capacity to secure critical raw materials and support sustainable industrial development.
Events such as this conference provide valuable opportunities for European projects to exchange experiences, connect with regional stakeholders and identify synergies, contributing to the creation of a stronger and more integrated European critical raw materials ecosystem.
